He pays attention to small details which articulates his relation to his environment and explores themes around his identity as San within a contemporary society. In his linocuts he sometimes addresses social and environmental issues, like in his linocuts that won him the first prizes in Botswana’s National Competitions for 2013 and 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2022. Thamae works in a variety of mediums ranging from extremely large canvasses to linocuts, etchings and lithographs. Together with the Kuru art project Thamae’s work had been exhibited in numerous exhibitions worldwide.
