Jan grew up in D’Kar and started his art career with the Kuru Art Project in January 2005. Before he joined the art project he worked as a mechanic at a motor mechanics firm. In his younger years he also used to make wood carvings which he sold to tourists and craft buyers. An array of intricate patterns and vibrant colours combined with a fascinating depiction of animals signifies Jan’s works of art. He is a very dedicated artist and being not afraid to try out new techniques and ideas, his art has developed greatly throughout the years. Jan works in a variety of artistic mediums but mostly enjoys oil painting and printmaking.
